It’s no secret! Breastfeeding has its challenges and one of the most common is nipple pain. Up to 90 percent of breastfeeding mothers report some pain or discomfort during their breastfeeding journey.
No, breastfeeding shouldn’t hurt. There may be some discomfort. But, once established and both Mumma & Bubba have good positioning and deep latch, then there should be no pain. But it takes some getting used to. These tips above should help get through and bring some welcome relief!
💗 Cold Compresses are a godsend! Instant relief! (Don’t put ice directly on the skin) wrapped instead in a tea towel or muslin cloth
💗 Unlatch baby with your little finger if bubba is positioned wrong is a pain-free way to release the suction (a clean finger). Try different positions to find one that suits you and your baby best, this may take some time.
💗 Apply a soothing nipple cream/butter after the cold compress.
