I created the Yum Mumma brand in 2021 a few months after having my second child, as I struggled to begin my breastfeeding journey. I gave birth during the COVID-19 pandemic in the UK. Services were limited. It was a difficult time, and I didn't know how long I would be able to breastfeed. I was exhausted!
I didn't want to give up on breastfeeding! I had managed to get to 13 months with my eldest child. But this time around I was solo-parenting with my two girls.
I started researching breastfeeding challenges, tips, and advice. I started a Facebook Group and Instagram page, to document my journey, and share tips and advice I'd learned along the way.
I am now a Breastfeeding Peer Supporter with the Association of Breastfeeding Mothers, so I am up to date on current breastfeeding legislation and guidance in the UK.
I hope I can help as best I can. Please drop me an email with SUPPORT as the subject to genova@yummumma.com with whatever breastfeeding query you have.
As a volunteer Breastfeeding Peer Supporter I offer free online 30-minute 1:1 sessions, and continued support via email.
The Yum Mumma Nipple Butter was formulated during a difficult period after my second daughter was born. I was struggling with pain, and sore cracked nipples whilst breastfeeding. I couldn't find a product that used only plant-based, natural ingredients. I longed for a product that was all natural whilst also effective. That's when I began to research natural ingredients that were safe to use while breastfeeding. Using a product in such a sensitive area that would partially be ingested by your newborn or infant needs careful consideration. Almost all the products I found on the market contained processed Lanolin, animal products, or additives, that I was not comfortable using on my skin let alone while feeding my baby.
The ingredients I chose to use in my own formulated product are all plant-based in their raw form, and 100% organic. Whilst also being very effective in repairing and soothing damaged and broken skin.
