Did you know….Low milk supply is actually quite uncommon. But one of the most common concerns for breastfeeding Mumma‘s.
You do NOT have a low milk supply if…
❌ You have soft breasts. You’re still producing milk, ‘full’ breasts are common in the first few weeks after birth.
❌ You don’t have a let down feeling. Some women have this during every feed, some not at all. Doesn’t mean you’re not producing enough milk
❌ Baby’s can feed in short bursts or for longer periods. There is no set time, just offer both breasts to baby.
❌ Your breasts do not have to leak for you to have a good milk supply. Leaking can vary from woman to woman.
❌ I posted some similar information about smaller breasts. Size does not determine how much milk a women can produce.
✅ As long as baby is feeding often with regular dirty nappies you have a good milk supply
✅Baby has a good latch, taking deep gulps with full cheeks
✅ Loss of weight (5-10%) after birth is normal
✅ Keep regular skin to skin contact and regular feeds to stimulate milk supply
✅feed on demand, always offer baby the breast (even if it’s for comfort).
